YABER K2s Review: 700 ANSI Lumens, Native 1080p

A native 1080p home projector with Google TV built in, dual 10W JBL speakers, WiFi 6, and auto focus and keystone. Best for people who want an all-in-one setup for a dark living room or bedroom, not a bright-room or true-4K machine.

What exactly are you buying here?

The YABER K2s is a 1080p LCD projector with a full copy of Google TV baked in, so you don't need to plug in a Fire Stick or a Roku to get Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video and the rest. It throws an image from 40 to 200 inches at a distance of 4.5 to 22.4 feet, runs WiFi 6, has two-way Bluetooth, and packs dual 10W JBL-tuned speakers with Dolby Audio decoding. Auto focus and auto keystone mean you can set it on a coffee table and get a square, sharp picture in a few seconds.

The headline number to understand is brightness: YABER lists 800 lm and, more usefully, 700 ANSI lumens. ANSI is the honest measurement, and 700 of them puts this firmly in the dark-room category. That matters, so we'll come back to it.

Who is it for, and who should skip it?

Buy it if you want one box that does everything in a room you can darken: a bedroom, a basement, a living room with decent curtains. The built-in Google TV and the JBL speakers mean you can genuinely unbox it and watch a movie that night without hunting for extra gear or a soundbar. People moving up from a cheap no-name projector will notice the jump in software smoothness and sound.

Skip it if the word "outdoor" sold you on daytime backyard viewing, or if you're chasing real 4K. At 700 ANSI lumens this is a night projector, and while it accepts a 4K signal, it displays everything at 1080p.

How bright is 700 ANSI lumens in practice?

Think of ANSI lumens as the number that survives marketing. A living-room TV-killer projector usually wants 2,000 ANSI or more to fight daylight. At 700, the K2s looks great once the sun is down or the blinds are shut, and it gets washed out with any real ambient light. The "outdoor movie projector" label is true in the sense that it's portable and runs apps anywhere, but plan your outdoor nights for after dark. If your main room has big uncovered windows and you watch during the day, this is the wrong tool and you'll be disappointed.

One quirk worth knowing from the listing: YABER says you should change the picture/image mode while a video is playing, not from the home screen. Minor, but it tells you the menus can be a little particular.

Is the 4K claim real?

No, and it's worth being blunt about it. The native resolution is 1920 x 1080, full HD. The "4K supported" spec means it will take a 4K source and downscale it to 1080p so you don't get an error, not that it paints 4K pixels on your wall. In our video review we leaned into the 4K language, and that was generous: what you actually see is a sharp, detailed 1080p image with a claimed 10,000:1 contrast ratio. For a wall-sized picture most people sit back from, 1080p is fine. Just don't pay for it expecting Ultra HD resolution.

How good is the sound and the smart TV?

This is where the K2s separates itself from the pile of generic projectors. The dual 10W JBL-tuned speakers with Dolby Audio are genuinely usable on their own, which is rare. Most projectors in this class have tinny speakers you immediately want to bypass. Here you can skip the soundbar for casual viewing, and the two-way Bluetooth lets you run it as a standalone Bluetooth speaker with the lamp off. In our video review the audio was the standout, with clear dialogue and more low end than you expect from a box this size.

The software is the other strong point. Full Google TV with 7,000-plus apps means native Netflix, not a workaround, plus Alexa voice control, an HDMI ARC port for feeding sound to a receiver, and an NFC tap-to-cast feature for phones that support it. The Google TV dongle is detachable over micro HDMI if you want to use the projector purely as a display for a laptop or console.

What are the trade-offs?

Beyond the brightness ceiling and the not-really-4K resolution, a few things to weigh. It's LCD, not DLP or laser, so color and sharpness are good for the money but not reference-grade, and LCD lamps dim over years of use. The lamp draws 100 watts and the unit runs on 120V, so this is a plug-in device, not a battery unit for camping. Auto keystone is convenient but digital keystone always costs a little image quality, so for the sharpest picture aim to place it square to the wall and let autofocus do its thing.

The 4.3-star average across more than 1,600 ratings is solid for this category and suggests most buyers are happy, but check recent reviews on the listing for any notes about firmware or app glitches, since Google TV projectors occasionally ship updates that change behavior.

How does it compare to the alternatives?

Against bare-bones budget projectors, the K2s wins on built-in Google TV and real JBL audio, and it's the easier recommendation if you hate clutter. Against brighter 1080p projectors around the same tier, you're trading some lumens for that better sound and smarter software. If you specifically need daytime or bright-room viewing, a higher-ANSI model (or honestly a big TV) beats it. And if you want true 4K resolution, you're shopping a different, pricier class entirely and should ignore the 4K tag here.

The verdict

The YABER K2s is a good all-in-one home projector held back by honest physics and loose marketing. You get a legitimately nice 1080p picture in a dark room, better-than-average JBL sound, and a full Google TV experience with no extra sticks. Just read "4K supported" as "accepts 4K, shows 1080p" and "outdoor" as "after dark," and you'll be happy. For a darkened room and a buyer who values easy setup and good audio, it earns a 7.2 out of 10.
