Who should buy the NOCO GENIUS1, and who should skip it?

The GENIUS1 is for vehicles that sit unused: a classic car stored for the winter, a motorcycle that only comes out in summer, a boat, an ATV, a lawn tractor or an RV you use a few times a year. Batteries in those vehicles usually don't fail because they're defective. They fail because they slowly drain while parked. Temperature compensation. A built-in thermal sensor reads the air temperature and adjusts the charge. That helps prevent undercharging in a freezing garage and overcharging in a hot shed. In our video review, we used a common case to illustrate this: an RV battery left connected from November through March.
Low-voltage and zero-volt recovery. It will charge batteries from as low as 1 volt. Force Mode lets you manually charge a battery that has dropped to zero volts, which many basic chargers refuse to do.
Desulfation. NOCO says its pulse charging detects and reverses sulfation and acid stratification. That's the buildup that shortens the life of lead-acid batteries left sitting. How much it helps depends on how far the battery has degraded, so treat it as a maintenance benefit rather than a guaranteed fix for a worn-out battery.
